MASS PRODUCTION

1. Quantity produced is very large.

2. Production is high standardised.

3. Mostly single purpose machines and special purpose machine used.

4. Production planning is tough it is.

5. Production layout is used.

6. Routing is standardised.

7. Scheduling is fixed.

8. Process planning is fixed. It is done only once

9. Control function is easy.

10. Supervision becomes a routine job. So it is easy.

11. Semi skilled workers are sufficient .

12. Preventive maintenance is necessary to avoid break downs.

13. Units cost is less.


BATCH PRODUCTION 

1. A limited batch quantity is produced

2. Product is standardised.

3. Special purpose machines and general purpose  machine are used.

4. Production planning is necessary for each batch.

5. A combination of process and product layout is used.

6. Routing has to be done for every batch.

7. Scheduling is done for each batch.

8. Process planning is to be done foe each batch.

9. Control function is some what easy.

10. Supervision is not so easy.

11. Semi skilled workers are sufficient.

12. Preventive as well as routine maintenance is done.

13. Unit cost is high.


JOB ORDER (OR) PROJECT TYPE  PRODUCTION 


1.One or few product are produced.

2. As specified by the customer.

3. General purpose machine are used.

4. Production planning machine are used.

5. A process layout or layout by fixed position is used.

6. Routing has to be done for every production.

7. Scheduling is prepared for each job.

8. Process planning is to be done each production.

9. Controlling is difficult.

10. Supervision is difficult.

11. High skilled workers are needed.

12. Routine maintenance is sufficient.

13. Unit cost is very high.
